Red Oak is the most popular of all hardwood options in the United States. It's strong, can take a beating, comes in a range of beautiful, warm, reddish-brown hues; and can complement a variety of interior design settings. Consider this reputable domestic hardwood for your living space.
Red Oak can be found all throughout the United States and Canada. There are multiple species and subspecies of the tree located in North America, where the largest species can grow to reach heights of roughly 150 feet and widths of more than 4. In addition to its use as hardwood flooring, Red Oak is also used to make agricultural tools, furniture, cabinetry, and more. Red Oak is the official state tree of New Jersey.
Red Oak hardwood flooring is quite durable, with a Janka Hardness Scale score of 1290. When it comes to determining resistance to indentations and dings, this wood is used as the benchmark of which all other hardwoods are compared -- it's the industry standard. Red Oak then is great for high-traffic areas; holds up well to daily wear and tear.
Red Oak is also a stunning hardwood, with a tight vertical grain, and colors that range from light to dark brown, with a warm reddish hue. The tone darkens over time.
And with its traditional, unassuming look, Red Oak hardwood flooring warms and complements any home decor; rustic, modern, traditional, eclectic, contemporary -- the possibilities are endless.
To preserve the beauty of your hardwood flooring for a lifetime, all of our pre-finished hardwood flooring is protected by seven layers of UV Cured Polyurethane infused with Ceramic particles (aluminum oxide) for scratch resistance and gloss retention. The finishes are 100% solids with no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can be harmful to humans and the environment. The finish is cured instantly by UV lights thus creating a safe yet extremely durable finish. This process provides the highest quality finish and durability in an environmentally friendly way.

Do you or a member of your family suffer from allergies? Prefinished hardwood floors are hypoallergenic. The finish will not give refuge to dust mites or microorganisms as carpets can; making hardwood flooring a smart choice for you’re the environment in your home!
Q: I've had my Red Oak hardwood flooring for a while now, and I've noticed that the color is darker than what it used to be when first installed. Why is that?
A: Red Oak hardwood flooring, like other hardwood, is prone to change in color over time. It's a natural product; color variation is inevitable, it's a part of the natural process. Color change occurs in all grades of flooring, and is sped up by the exposure to sunlight. If the color change is bothersome to you, there are two ways to achieve a consistent color across each wooden board: 1) select each piece individually for installation, or 2) apply a stain. Red Oak takes stain very well.
